Born in Chacon, NM, Mora County, on Aug. 23, 1908. Family Genealogy, he was the eldest of nine children. His parents moved to Springer in 1909 as his father worked in the construction of the First National Bank building, His family always lived in Springer. Los Apaches used to kidnap children and the Mexicanos also used to capture Indian children to raised them in their homes. His grandparents raised Indian kids who took the Vigil name.
