[In video collection-Arellano's mother] Family genealogy, born in 1916 in Guadalupita, comes from a large family: 12 children. Her parents met in 'a baile' [party]. Memories of her childhood in Guadalupita and El Ojo Feliz. Her father used to work in a sawmill owned by Antonio Rivera. Her father eventually bought the sawmill and ran the business in Ojo Feliz. Talks more about family and family relations. Her grandfather Antonio Rivera used to grow potatoes in Black Lake and had an orchard in Guadalupita. Talking about local people; The Griegos, The Torres, The Espinozas, and other people that were related to her family. Memories of her time visiting her grandparents in Ojo Feliz. Her family moved to Maxwell in 1928 because of a job opportunity for her father in a beet field in the Pompeo ranch. She attended elementary school in Guadalupita where instruction was in Spanish. Then she attended school in Ojo Feliz, and then to Maxwell. Local elders and neighbors, Lazaro Vigil. Brujas en Ojo Feliz, they used to be scared of the owls [tecolotes] as they believed it was a bad omen. Her grandparents used to grow wheat, chickpeas, and other produce such as cabbage, carrots. Neighbors in Ojo Feliz: los Vigiles, Los Senas, Lo Hernandez. More stories about brujas [Witches] and visions of balls of fire presumably witches moving on top on the roofs where they used to live, healing powers of the witches to cure mal de ojo.
