Based Undergraduate Research Experience (ECURE) framework and explores how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance undergraduate research education through Open Educational Resources (OER). The presentation highlights ECURE’s progressive approach to integrating authentic research experiences into undergraduate courses, emphasizing active learning, collaboration, ethical awareness, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

It examines how AI can support personalized learning, provide instructional scaffolding, strengthen students’ research skills, and promote self-regulated learning. Examples from general chemistry laboratory courses demonstrate the application of ECURE principles, while assessment data illustrate improvements in student learning outcomes associated with research-based instruction. The presentation also introduces AI-assisted learning worksheets and OER materials designed to make undergraduate research experiences more accessible, scalable, and inclusive across higher education.
