Description

Zebu cattle grazing on fields next to a man-made waterhole in the sertão and closed off with barbed wire. Large private ranches still manage to prosper even during drought periods, as they have access to the most precious resource in the sertão: water. Latifundary land ownership patterns continue to exist in this region and during a serious drought small landowners are forced to sell their land and migrate with their children the city or join the ranks of the underemployed rural labor force.Gado zebu pastando nos campos próximos a um poço artificial no sertão, cercado com arame farpado. Grandes fazendas privadas ainda conseguem prosperar durante os períodos da seca, por terem acesso ao mais precioso recurso do sertão: água. Os padrões latifundiárias de propriedade continuam a existir nessa região. Durante uma seca séria os pequenos proprietários de terras são forçados a vender suas terras e imigrar com seus filhos para a cidade ou entrar na fila da força de trabalho rural desempregada.
