Description
View of the Tucuruí hydroelectric plant and damo ln the background is the huge lake that flooded neighboring forest land. This dam was built along the Tocantins river (PA) to provide the energy supply for various deve10pment projects, and several other dams are being planned or constructed. There has been much debate about the current and future development of the Amazon region.Vista da represa e usina hidroelétrica de Tucuruí. Ao fundo vê-se o gigantesco lago que cobriu as terras da floresta vizinha. Essa represa foi construída ao longo do Rio Tocantins (PA) para fornecer energia aos vários projetos de desenvolvimento. Várias outras represas estão sendo construídas ou planejadas. Tem havido muito debate acerca do presente e futuro desenvolvimento da Região Amazónica.
