Description
Petrobrás petroleum refinery in Manaus along the Rio Negro river. Large amounts of manganese, cassiterite, bauxite, tin, iron ore and gold have been found in the Amazon in recent years, providing the region with new sources of income. Previously, the local economy relied primarily on agricultural products (black pepper, jute, Brazil nuts, cocoa), rubber, timber and cattle.A refinaria de petróleo da Petrobrás em Manaus ao longo do Rio Negro. Grandes quantidades de manganês, cassiterita, bauxita, estanho, minério de ferro e ouro têm sido encontradas na Amazónia nos anos recentes, provendo a região com novas fontes de renda. Anteriormente a economia local dependia primariamente de produtos agrícolas (pimenta do reino, juta, castanha do Pará, coco), borracha, madeira e gado.
