Abstract
The volume serves as a comprehensive reference guide to governmental, educational, economic, cultural, and civic institutions throughout New Mexico. Organized by subject area, the register provides contact information and organizational details for state government departments and agencies, legislative committees, political parties, labor unions, business and professional associations, economic development organizations, financial institutions, media outlets, educational institutions, libraries, and national and state parks, monuments, and museums. The publication was compiled from information supplied by numerous state agencies, professional organizations, and public institutions and was intended to facilitate access to public information and improve communication among government officials, researchers, businesses, community organizations, and citizens. As a snapshot of New Mexico’s institutional landscape in 1981, the register also serves as a valuable historical resource documenting the structure of state government, economic development networks, communication systems, educational resources, and civic organizations during a period of significant growth and administrative modernization in New Mexico
