Born in 1908. Memories of her youth years in Atrisco, not many people in her neighborhood. Most of la Merced de Atrisco was open land for farming and grazing the sheep. She attended a school in la casa del maestro Salazar for the first grade then they moved to Arizona and she went to school in Flagstaff. When her family returned to Atrisco, the Atrisco school had been established around 1918. Her father had to go out of state for seasonal work to better provide his family. Her father used to work in the copper mines in Gallup. Her father used to grow green chile, melons, and other produce when he was not out of town. Memories of her childhood playing with plants and clay as there were not toys. The influence of TV on the behavior of youths and people in the current time. Due to the predominance of large agricultural fields and ranches in Atrisco, the original name of the area was Ranchos de Atrisco. When the first 'estafeta' [Post Office] was established in a local store owned by José Armijo, the town name changed to Armijo. Memories of how farmers used to shear the sheep.
