Family genealogy, memories of his childhood in Atrisco. He went to school in Atrisco. His father worked for the railroad in Santa Fe. Her mother was in charge of taking care of the house and children. People in Atrisco were mostly farmers and they used to exchange their harvest for other products they needed in 'la tienda del cambio' [the trade store]. His father built their house little by little with the low wages he earned working in the railroad. His father used to make wine as he owned nine acres of land. His siblings and him inherited portions of their father's land when they grew up and started their families. A story about a saloon that his father used to own located on Broadway street. The funerals in Atrisco: in the past funerals were hosted in the house of the deceased. Funerals used to last two or three days and the family used to serve food and drinks to the people who attended until the day of interment. The neighbors used to help with the ranch work, especially during the harvest of corn and chile. There were no doctors in the area, but people used to rely on curanderas and herbal medicine. His aunt Angela Castillo used to be the partera [midwife] in Artisco. Los penitentes and dichos he learned from his father and close friends. The games he used to play when he was a child with simple things as they did not have toys. Her mother 'empacaba mucho' [food canning] and cook a very tasty chile, 'ordeñando la vaca, hacíamos mantequilla y queso'. The houses were located far from each other in the past. He worked for the local Fire Department for a little while [Lumbrero= fireman]. The 'teatros' [movie theaters], and the lunch he used to have at school. School lunches were good at the time he was in school. His family used to go to the Santa Ana Church, where people used to pay for the 'bancas' [pews] to be seating during the service. The stores in Atrisco. Las fiestas de Armijo and los bailes. Memories of one of his older brothers who served in the War and died as a war prisoner. The firsts motorized cars in Atrisco and how much they cost. Many men used to go out of town to work in La Borrega.
