Abstract
The contributions of the Greeks to the development and evolution science are enormous. Not only were the Greeks the originators of the basic philosophical and scientific: modes of reflection in the western world, but they were also the continuators as well as the best commentators and critics of their ancestors and their contemporaries. To restrict the contributions of the Greeks to science to the pre-Roman period would be wrong. It would be equally as -wrong to restrict the presense of original thinkers to that period also.
