Lived in La Tinaja. Reading a poem dedicated to Maria Martinez, a local woman and wife, verses of a dying wife saying good bye to her husband Recalling how he got married, a story about a train crashing a car where some local people died, and other stories about a shooting that killed a young couple that were going to their wedding ceremony. Don Demetrio was born on December 22, 1885, who came to La Tinaja when he was a child with this parents. His father was 'borreguero' [sheep herder]. Talks about his family genealogy, migration from Taos to Mora due to the massive dismissal of workers by the Maxwell Company. Talking about the Bernales. His ranch was acquired by 'Dominio Publico' assigned to the person who claimed the land in the area as his/her property, the the Government would award the legal papers and deeds of property. Stories about local people who came from Bulgaria, they were smart and learned to speak Spanish and English. They named their settlement as the places left behind in their country; e.g. Sofía village located below la Mesa close Pasamonte and the road to Clayton in La Tinaja. There used to be about 70 Hispanic families [Mexicanos] in the past: The Valdezes and The Arellanos. He knew the owner of 'La Voz del Pueblo' newspaper; a story about a man killed by lightning in La Tinaja. Los Chavez, and Don Francisco Chavez from El Bermejo.
