[In video collection] Continued: Manuel talks about local people: Feliciano C. de Baca, Victor Lucero, Nemesio Lucero, and other local people. Don Rómulo del Valle was the artist who helped Mr. Mitchel with the painting of the church. Malaquias Baca was first cousin of Mary's mother, Manuelita, Martina and José Gonsalez, the Ulibarrís, The Aguilares, and other local people in Bueyeros. Los Mayordomos de la iglesia at minute 25 of this recording father Vince Chavez, a catholic priest talks about mayordomos [in English] and the service devoted to the church by the mayordomos and their families. Local Families like the C. de Bacas, Gallegos, Garcías, Gonsalez and others funded and worked in the construction of the church in Bueyeros. Las misas y celebraciones, la sequía [drought] durante la 'Depresión' [The Great Depression]. In the summer of 1933 a lot of cattle were sacrificed to save the herds as there was no pasture due to the extreme dry weather. Some local farmers like Mr. Mitchel moved his herds to the swamps of Louisiana to save their investment in livestock. Other ranchers moved their herds to Sonora, Mexico. A story about the sale of lands in the area to Anglo American ranchers. Conversation ends with a story of an interesting process of preparing the 'zoquete' [clay mix] used by a Mexican man who did the 'enjarrado' [plastered the walls] of la iglesia de Grenville.
