[ca. 1990-2000] Continued: Working in Wyoming as a sheep herder when he was 14 years old. He learned to process rawhide and make 'jáquimas' [halters]. Life as a borreguero in Wyoming, he explains how he treated the sheep skin by salting it before the drying process. More on his experiences working as a sheep shepherd in Wyoming. Memories of his military service in the Navy. Other young men from Mora who joined the Navy with him: Julio Duran, Anastacio Molinar, Joe Flores, Manuel Melendez. He used to be a barber and wrote letters for other soldiers. He remembers that some young men from Mora who died in the WWII; Casimiro Pacheco from Wagon Mound. After he came back from war, he worked with the Veterans and worked in his mother ranch in Wagon Mound. He got married when he was in the Navy. He had three children. Stories about his time as a chota [cop] working in La Reforma in Springer [A Correctional Center in Springer], most of the inmates were Hispanic and a few black guys from Roswell. He left la Reforma in 1954 to work in the steel mill and a little later he ran for sheriff in Mora. His republican party beliefs and winning the election for Sheriff.
