Abstract
Monthly Bulletin of the Employment Security Commission of New Mexico (October 1947) presents a detailed review of unemployment compensation, veterans' readjustment allowances, self-employment programs, employment service operations, and employer coverage in New Mexico during October 1947. A featured article analyzes the outcomes of self-employed veterans participating in the GI Bill's self-employment allowance program. The study found that most responding veterans remained in business, and a substantial majority reported that federal self-employment allowances were essential or highly beneficial in establishing their enterprises. The bulletin emphasizes the role of these programs in helping veterans' transition successfully from military service to civilian economic life.
