Abstract
Covered Employment and Wages Quarterly Report: Third Quarter 1960 is a labor market statistical publication prepared by the Employment Security Commission of New Mexico and published in March 1961. The report presents detailed employment, wage, and establishment data for workers covered under New Mexico's unemployment insurance system during the third quarter of 1960. In addition to extensive county and industry-level statistical tables, the report discusses the importance of covered employment data for measuring regional economic development and highlights its use in the University of New Mexico Bureau of Business Research study Income and Employment in New Mexico, 1949–1959. The publication emphasizes the role of federal government activity and mining industries in generating employment growth and higher incomes within many New Mexico counties. The report provides detailed statistics for major sectors including agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, transportation and utilities, trade, finance, insurance and real estate, and services, making it an important historical resource for the study of New Mexico's economy and workforce during the early 1960s.
