Abstract
Covered Employment and Wages is a labor market statistical publication prepared by the Employment Security Commission of New Mexico and published in June 1961. The report presents detailed employment and wage data for workers covered under New Mexico's unemployment insurance system during the fourth quarter of 1960. It includes statewide, county-level, and industry-specific statistics on employment, establishments, total wages, and average weekly earnings across major sectors including agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, transportation and utilities, trade, finance and real estate, and services. The publication highlights significant declines in construction employment, modest reductions in manufacturing employment, and continued growth in mining, trade, finance, and service industries. As a historical record of New Mexico's economy, the report provides valuable evidence of labor market conditions during a period of economic adjustment and changing industrial composition.
