Abstract
"One of the oldest families in [New Mexico], including a long list of landowners and patriots and men of distinguished ability, is that of Chavez, represented by a prominent attorney of Albuquerque, Dennis Chavez." Thus wrote a noted historian about Dennis Chavez and his family. The names of the Conquistadores go back into the history of Spain...Several hundred years after the young conquerors undertook their name, the Chavez family located in the village of Albuquerque in what is today New Mexico.
