Background Information:

The New Mexico-Colorado Spanish survey records (MSS 890) is a CSWR collection that is widely used and is referred to as a primary corpus for New Mexico variant Spanish language study. It is included as part of this project because it directly relates to the time period and research involved with the language studies included within this project.

Because of the extensiveness (358 interviews), the New Mexico-Colorado Spanish Survey Records digital audio files of the interviews are not, at this point, uploaded to this repository. CDs of the interviews are available for listening at the Center for Southwest Research Anderson reading room.

The interview recordings in the New Mexico-Colorado Spanish survey records contain interviewee responses to some 700 specifically elicited lexical items with additional one-on-one candid conversations interwoven throughout many of the interviews.
