Life in early 1900s: Work in the campo (mountain ranges), railroad work in Santa Rosa area, coal mine work, water usage, poverty in Villanueva, mine work in Trinidad, Colorado, and work shepherding in Las Animas. He worked for counties as "Coyotero"- trapping and killing lobos and coyotes for pelts, horse breaking, discussion about Rio Pecos geographical area, knowledge of mountain ranges throughout New Mexico and Colorado. Anecdotes about killing 'víboras' [snakes], animales and yerbas, remembrance about town of Atarque area, loss of agriculture. Discussing how the welfare and social security checks provided by the Federal Government changed traditional life in the area causing its residents to abandon their agricultural life and their rural communities. He predicts how "la gente blanca" will take over traditional agricultural communities as they have more resources and equipment to acquire the lands. Stories about how Texas was established with migrants and convicts from Europe, rancher's life, discussions on Spanish language and education, schooling only for three months in that area. How his parents instilled moral values and Catholic religion in him as a child. People used to be Catholic not Protestant, relations with regional Native Americans.
