Description
At this event, Miguel Sabol will discuss how his academic path at UNM led him to his current career in higher education, highlighting how his Portuguese language skills and international experiences, through the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship (2024), and his Fulbright appointment, supported his professional journey in higher education.
Miguel Sabol received a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Spanish with minors in Portuguese and Communication & Journalism, graduating with Honors Distinction in 2021. He later completed a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies with a concentration in Conflict, Peace, and Rights, both from the University of New Mexico. Miguel has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) for beginner Portuguese (2020) and a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship for advanced Portuguese, provided by the LAII. He also served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Brazil during 2023–2024. He currently works as an International Education Advisor in the Global Education Office (GEO) at UNM.
