Abstract
Este artículo tiene como propósito utilizar una metodología cuantitativa de las Humanidades Digitales como un acercamiento diferente al estudio de la filiación de período de La Celestina. Hasta el momento, autores como Claudia Raposo, P.E. Russell, Rosa Navarro y Yolanda Iglesias, han comparado a La Celestina con textos de la Edad Media y han encontrado paralelos entre ambos. Por otro lado, teóricos como D.W. McPheeters, Michael Gerli, Ranka Minic-Vidovic, Laura Puerto y Emma Gatland, por nombrar algunos, encuentran características de género y temática de la obra que la podrían ubicar más cercana al período renacentista. Y otros autores como Ivy Corfis y R.O. Jones, ven a La Celestina como un texto inclasificable. El análisis de frecuencia de palabras y de asociación de términos realizado con Voyant Tools revela que los temas de la literatura medieval aparecen en La Celestina y persisten en el Siglo de Oro, aunque esta obra les otorga un tratamiento diferente. El artículo concluye proponiendo posibles investigaciones futuras para profundizar en algunos de los hallazgos.
The purpose of this article is to use a quantitative methodology from the Digital Humanities as a different approach to the study of La Celestina's period affiliation. Authors such as Claudia Raposo, P.E. Russell, Rosa Navarro and Yolanda Iglesias have compared La Celestina with texts from the Middle Ages and have found parallels between them. On the other hand, theorists such as D.W. McPheeters, Michael Gerli, Ranka Minic-Vidovic, Laura Puerto and Emma Gatland, to name a few, find genre and thematic characteristics of the work that could place it closer to the Renaissance period. Other authors like Ivy Corfis and R.O. Jones, consider La Celestina as an unclassifiable text. The word frequency and term association analysis performed with Voyant Tools reveals that themes from medieval literature appear in La Celestina and persist in the Golden Age, although this work treats them differently. The article concludes by proposing possible future research to deepen some of the finding.
