Policies

Articles and interviews:

Papers submitted to Intersecciones may be written in Spanish or English. They must have a maximum length of 7000 words (notes included, bibliography excluded) and the page must be formatted as follows: margins of 1 inch (or 2.54cm), Times New Roman 12-point font, double line spacing. The first page should contain:

  • Title and eventual subtitle
  • Name and surname(s) of the researcher
  • Institutional affiliation (if possible)
  • Abstract in Spanish and English with a maximum of 250 words
  • Between three and five keywords

The citation system adopted is the one contained in the most recent edition of the MLA manual of style, which can be consulted free of charge here.

The sections must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, ...). The title of the sections should be in bold, in Times New Roman 12-point font.

The notes, in Times New Roman, 10-point font, single-line spacing, which go at the bottom of the page and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, ...). The numbering will be in superscript and always before the punctuation mark.

Interviews follow the same rules as the articles and:

  • An introduction of the interviewee is required and, if possible, a brief narrative about the context of the interview (café, university office, congress, etc.)
  • Questions must be clearly recognizable, requiring you to use italic to evidence them
  • The works or work of the interviewee that you want to mention must be with a title written at length in italic and in parentheses the publisher and year of publication

Reviews:

Intersecciones accepts reviews of scientific books, novels, poetry books, exhibition catalogs, etc., that have relevance in the field of Hispanic studies. Books and exhibitions reviewed must have been published/made no later than two years prior to the release of the issue (E.g., for the 2022 issue, reviews of works relating to the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 are accepted).

  • Reviews should not exceed 1200 words and the page should be formatted as follows: 1-inch margins (or 2.54cm), Times New Roman 12-point font, double line spacing. The first page should contain:
  • Reference of the object of the review according to the latest edition of the MLA manual of style, complete of ISBN and DOI (if available)
  • Name and surname(s) of the author of the review and, if possible, their institutional affiliation
  • The only notes that reviews can include are bibliographical.
  • Reviews do not admit final bibliography

Short stories and poems:

Intersecciones is committed to the dissemination of creative works by Hispanic authors, whether works written in English or Spanish.

Stories must have a maximum length of 7000 words and the page must be formatted as follows: margins of 1 inch (or 2.54cm), Times New Roman 12-point font, double line spacing. The first page should contain:

  • Title (and subtitle) of the story
  • Name and surname of the author

Poems must have a maximum length of 20 pages and the page must be formatted as follows: margins of 1 inch (or 2.54cm), Times New Roman 12-point font, double line spacing. The first page should contain:

  • Title (and subtitle) of the poem/collection of poems
  • Name and surname of the author
  • The subject of stories and poems is free, unless otherwise specified in the call for papers.

Photography and drawings::

Photographs and drawings must be sent in digital format in two files, high and low resolution. Visual work letter must be accompanied by the name and surname(s) of the author, his eventual affiliation to art schools or collectives, a brief didascalia (if you like) and a text of 500 words (max..) in Times New Roman 12-point font, double line spacing, which introduces the work and facilitates its fruition.
