Abstract
Physical distancing requirements of the COVID-19 pandemic can result in increased educational and social stresses on first year radiology residents. Faculty can no longer easily welcome and quickly integrate new residents into the radiology department via social events at the beginning of the academic year due to limitations of physical distancing requirements. Interactions between new residents and faculty/senior residents in the reading room has also been limited due to physical distancing requirements. As a result, we developed a virtual introductory lecture series for our first year residents to introduce them to key elements of radiology education, rotation expectation, and daily workflow, as well as promote a sense of social inclusiveness and well-being. To facilitate development of social relationships, faculty members as well as key technologists and other staff from their section were introduced during the lecture series.
