Abstract
The purpose of this presentation is to report on the development, implementation, and evaluation of this seminar/IPE opportunity, “Justice and Equity in Diabetes Care.” We will address the process to refine this seminar to increase registration across the HSC. During the inaugural seminar:
- Participants examined and biases embedded in contemporary U.S. culture with an emphasis on how these structures impact health care and health outcomes of individuals, families, communities, and populations, specifically relating to diabetes care and outcomes.
- Participants explored their roles as professional healthcare providers in advocating for social justice and equity and develop skills to begin recognizing and dismantling the structures that support health inequities and disparities, particularly relating to diabetes in marginalized communities.
