Abstract
The LGBTQ youth suicide rate is higher in communities with higher community nonacceptance. This research examines the economic cost to society of the difference in suicide rates attributed to community nonacceptance. In Florida, a state with recent increases in hostility towards the LGBTQ community and LGBTQ rights, the annual cost of community nonacceptance of LGBTQ youth was found to be $309.43 million.
