Abstract

This report explores the rapid expansion of consumer credit in the United States and New Mexico, including credit cards, revolving credit plans, installment lending, consumer debt, and changing spending patterns during the postwar era. It also reviews New Mexico’s strong economic performance in 1959, highlighting employment growth, construction activity, and continued business expansion following the national recession of 1957-58.
