Abstract

The purpose of this study was first to prepare a self-instructional 35mm slide-tape presentation which duplicated as nearly as possible an existing video cassette presentation, and then to compare the effectiveness of these for in-service self-instruction of Media Center concepts and equipment usage with school paraprofessionals (instructional aides). The presentations covered the services and activities of a Media Center, the card catalog, the operation of the 16mm projector, the use of the tape recorder, the overhead projector and transparencies, and the use of developmental boards. The video cassette presentation utilized six cassettes drawn from the Communications and Education Through Television series commissioned in 1973 by the New Mexico State Board of Education.
