Abstract
Statement of the Problem
American public schools have been criticized for failing to meet the needs of children from minority groups. The cultural heritage of these children is seen as an important factor in differential achievement in the public schools. It has been postulated that students and adults from different cultural groups would hold different expectations for teachers, and this would hinder the chances of minority students to benefit from Anglo-oriented schools. However, there is little empirical evidence regarding expectations teacher role behavior held by minority students or teachers.
