Abstract
Educators have long been aware of the need for adequate predictors of school achievement for first grade pupils. Moreover, there is growing interest in the screening of school beginners, both as a means of determining their readiness for learning and as a way of identifying early those children with potential difficulties so that they can be given required attention at a time when it will be most beneficial.
