Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine if there is any significant difference in spelling achievement on a fifth-grade level between an experimental group using a functional-recognition approach to weekly spelling lists for a period of four weeks, as compared with a control group which does not apply the functional-recognition approach, but which has equal time for study and writing.
