Abstract

Statement of the Problem: It was purpose of this study (1) to investigate the incidence of firearm fatalities in the United States, (2) to determine whether or not a course in firearm safety should be taught in the secondary school, and (3) to prepare unit of instruction of fire and arm safety, if needed is indicated.

Importance of this study. Firearm fatalities are on the increase in the United States. Each year they take a great toll of lives and cause untold agony to the maimed. Very little has been done in secondary education towards reducing the number of accidents due to firearms. The conservation of human life is of the utmost importance to the progress and well-being of the nation. Studies are needed concerning the methods by which firearm safety can be best can best be promoted
