The first Permanent Review Board of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe was appointed in June of 1992, following recommendations from an independent commission established in October 1992 by Archbishop Robert Sanchez. The Board was required to include a majority of non-clergy members, consisting of three priests, three lay representatives of the church (such as victims, parents of victims, and parish council), and three lay professionals (such as social workers, lawyers, psychologists, etc.) Working with the Archdiocese’s Case Manager, the Permanent Review Board’s primary goal was to address allegations of clergy sexual abuse of minors by reviewing evidence, consulting and deliberating, and making recommendations to the Archbishop for his final decision in each case. The Board also had authority to advise the Archbishop on other concerns related to child sexual abuse, and to recommend updates to relevant policies. As of 2025, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe’s Independent Review Board is responsible for these functions, as well as vetting individuals for inclusion in the church’s list of “Credibly Accused Priests, Deacons & Religious in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe”

These records of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe Permanent Review Board include member lists from approximately 2003-2012 (2006 and 2007 excluded), meeting agendas and minutes from 1993-1996 and 2005-2014, and meeting summaries and official recommendations presented to the Archbishop.
