92.Cidade (City), 1956. Here, Volpi is more abstract, using a composition that recalls the influential French artist Léger, whose work was well-known in Brazil, and Cubist montage techniques of overlaying. Yet, he maintains specifically Brazilian references in the architectural detail and color.
