Description

The 131 meter Caracol waterfall near Canela (RS) is located in the lower end of the Serra Geral. Much of the coastal vegetation in the Serra do Mar is of mata atlântica type found in the Southeast. A large part has been c1eared for coffee and other plantations. However, in most of the Serra Geral more subtropical vegetation, the mata de araucária is found.A cachoeira do Caracol, perto de Canela (RS), com 131 metros de altura, está localizada na extremidade mais baixa da Serra Geral. Em grande parte, a vegetação da Serra do Mar é do tipo mata atlântica, a mesma encontrada na região Sudeste. Um grande pedaço foi devastado para dar lugar a plantações, principalmente de café. Entretanto, na maior parte da Serra Geral encontra-se mais vegetação subtropical, a mata de araucária.
