Federal highway cutting through the sertão in the interior of Ceará. Inhospitable caatinga vegetation !ines both sides of the road. Adverse c1imatic conditions in the form of prolonged droughts, rural labor surplus and latifundary land use patterns have helped increase the flow of migrants to medium and large cities.Estrada federal cortando o sertão no interior do Ceará. Em ambos os lados da estrada está a inóspita vegetação da caatinga. Condições climáticas adversas na forma de secas prolongadas, excesso de pessoal para o trabalho rural e padrões latifundiárias de propriedade têm forçado a imigração para cidades de tamanho médio e grande.
