Description

The village of Repartimento was built to house residents whose land was flooded by the Tucuruí hydroelectric dam. It is located along the Transamazónica near Marabá (P A). Ambitious projects such as the Tucuruí or the Carajás mine, as well as many of the recent gold rushes, have attracted numerous migrants to the new frontier areas of the North. These internal migrations challenge the government as it plans to develop the region.A vila de Repartimento foi construída para abrigar os residentes cujas terras foram inundadas pela represa hidroelétrica de Tucuruí. Esta se localiza ao longo da Transamazónica perto de Marabá (PA). Projetos ambiciosos como os de Tucuruí e as minas de Carajás, bem como as recentes corridas do ouro têm atraído numerosos imigrantes às novas áreas de fronteira do Norte. Estas migrações internas desafiam o governo em seu plano de desenvolver a região.
