Abstract
The study assesses the effectiveness of New Mexico's Public Library Financial Assistance Act (PLFAA). Conducted by the University of New Mexico Bureau of Business and Economic Research under contract with the New Mexico State Library Commission, the study examines the allocation, distribution, use, and impact of grants awarded to public libraries, interlibrary systems, and regional library services. Using a representative sample of public libraries, annual reports, collection data, interviews with librarians and trustees, and surveys of library patrons, the report evaluates both objective and subjective measures of program effectiveness.
