Abstract

The figure has long been a primary source of emotional, psychological and visual interest to me. I have been involved with the making of metalwork and drawings from and about different aspects of the figure for a few years now. The work done during my M.A. program at the University of New Mexico has clarified and identified the importance of the figure to my work, and helped in my recognition of vital, inherent qualities within the figure -- emotional, psychological and visual. This, then, is an analysis of the sources for the metalwork and drawings, and an explanation of what I hope to accomplish and clarify for my thesis show.
