Born in 1916 in Trementina, NM, Lived in Trementina and Tucumcari, NM. Cuento sobre un sapo y un Cangrejo, cuento de la Zorra y el Cangrejo, arroz con leche chant. Historias de Indios, when men used to go collect wood in the moutain, Indians used to attack them and steal their mules. Cuento de un viejito y los indios, the Indian raids and how they abducted women from the Hispanic villages, a story about a woman who was taken by the Indians and assimilated and stayed with the tribe. A male speaker continues telling a story about Indios who were searching for a small boy and ended up burning a local man's field and killing him. Other stories about Indios and captive Hispanic men that sometimes escaped from the Indians, cuentos about people in Tecolote, borregas, cuento de una viejita que decían era bruja y los civoleros [Bison hunters]. Lo que hacían los ciboleros: traían carne, manteca y cueros. Mataban los cíbolos para que los Indios no tuvieran comida y así el gobierno los atrape. Cuento del Arroyo de Pajarito y su origen. Los ciboleros mataban a los cíbolos con lanzas [speers], o les cortaban las corvas [humps]. Los borregueros [sheep herders] used to hire children by offering money to their parents and then took the children for shepherding the sheep herds until they grew up and decided by themselves to leave the job in la Borrega. His father worked for Los Chaves in their ranch as a sheep shepherd, he grew up shepherding sheep and he never got paid, so he quit that job when he was a young man. His father bough a rifle and accidentally shot a neighbor named Silverio Jimenez, so he had to work back in la borrega to pay for the neighbor's recovery and family expenses. Later his father worked for the railway and he tells about his father's adventures traveling by train. His father eventually ended up working for a family in Tucumcari making adobes.
