[In video collection] Family genealogy; maternal grandparents: Alvino Maes and Sara Martinez, paternal grandparents: Juan Martinez and Cesarea Trujillo. Her father was Jose Emilio Martinez. She used to help with the ranch chores when she was a child. Her father's ranch was located in El Turquillo. Her father was born in 1904 and her mother in 1901. The Martinez on her grandfather's side moved to Clayton. Relatives on her mother's side settled down in Mora after coming from Embudo, Dixon, San Juan, Chamita. Los Maeses came from Picuries. Her father became orphan at 4 years old as his mother passed away young. Some other relatives who lived en El Alto. Other Martinez related in El Alto de los Indios. She has two siblings and she is the eldest child. Memories of her childhood in El Turquillo, La Cañada del Carro, The Chupaderos and the neighboring families. Carolina attended school in Mora. Tells a story about her father and aunt who suffered a lot after they lost their mother and when their father remarried. After she graduated from high school in Mora, she moved to Wyoming for a job, then she returned to Mora and got married. She worked for NM State, Mora County Extension Center for 28 years. Talks about the agricultural programs the Extension Center develops in the communities. Her children are all adults and have jobs, four of them are truck drivers. Memories of her years in high school managed by a congregation of catholic nuns, and her views of current ways to educate children. Talking about the mine in Talco and the rare mineral called 'talco' that people used in construction to set up windows. Talking about local elders; Julian Olivas, Emilio Sanchez, Rachel Lopez, Lucas Valdez, Federico Gallegos, and others in Mora. After she got married, she lived in Nebraska, Colorado, Grants, and eventually she moved back to Mora in 1960. Vague memories about cuentos her mother used to tell her.
