Abstract
Many books have been written on the events and trends occurring within Germnay during the 1933-1943 decade. Library shelves fairly groan under their numbers. There has always been a question in my mind, however, as to the trustworthiness of many of these works. It seemed as if they had been written, not with the idea of presenting information, but of working on the emotions of the reading public in this country. If such were the case, it would be quite understandable. Political leaders in other European countries believeing themselves to be in great danger from Germany (before the outbreak of war), would naturally wish to enlist the support of this country, an encouraging sympathizers to produce such materials would be a practical means of obtaining it. Whether or not these books were actually written with such a prupose in mind, I do not think it can be completely denied by anyone that vested interests were involved in the production of many of them.
