About This Journal

The Western Journal of Orthopaedics (WJO; formerly The University of New Mexico Orthopaedics Research Journal) was initially created in 2012 to showcase exceptional research from UNM Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation. In 2017, WJO incorporated a formal, external, and double-blinded peer-review process. In 2020, WJO will release its first volume under the new name. WJO is proud to engage authors from the Southwestern United States, as well as around the world, as we near our ultimate goal of MEDLINE indexing. WJO publishes once a year in June and highlights original research relevant to orthopaedic-focused surgery and engineering. We welcome all relevant orthopaedic and engineering submissions. We encourage manuscripts from faculty, fellows, residents, alumni, and colleagues. The submission deadline for WJO is October 5 every year. Manuscripts submitted afterward will be considered for next year’s volume. Please view the Instructions for Authors for submission details. Email any questions to UNMORJ@salud.unm.edu. Thank you for considering WJO as an avenue to feature your research.
