Local Council No. 3 at Mogote, Colorado, was organized in December of 1902 and by 1937 had sixty-two members. Andrés Valdez, the last surviving member, kept the Mogote Journals until 1990 when he entrusted his son-in-law, Herman Martínez, with their safekeeping. Herman and his wife, Patricia, preserved the journals at their residence in Alamosa until 2023 when the SPMDTU had embarked on a major restoration of the society's meeting hall in Antonito. Aware of their historical importance, they arranged through Professor José Rivera to add them to the collection of records archived at the UNM Center for Southwest Research.
