Abstract
The histories of Egypt and Indonesia are presented in the rigorous framework of a modified Marxist model of history. Special consideration is given to the interplay of various factors in the infrastructure, such as the formation and conflict of classes, process of industrialization, role of commercial agriculture, and regional effects of world trade. Epiphenomena such as various forms of government, and ideological expressions are related to structural and historical events. Some attention is given to the creation and resolution of explicit hypotheses dealing with comparative developments of the two countries.
