Abstract
For four semester now, I have been working with poetry in our Portuguese 300 Level Language Classes. Each semester, I am overjoyed with the response of students and the beauty of their final products (poems). With this poster, I intend to share a little of the work we have been doing in class, and how poetry has been opening new doors to learn and produce in the language classroom. The Student Leaning Objectives of these activities are that students will 1) read and think critically about poetry as form of resistance in Brazil; 2) work on their Portuguese reading and listening comprehension; 3) connect poetry as a form of resistance against situations already studied in class (Brazilian dictatorship, geographic segregation, poverty, etc.); and produce creative work in Portuguese reflecting on their own forms of resistance and developing their writing skills.
