Abstract
Covered Employment and Wages Quarterly Report is a statistical publication issued by the Employment Security Commission of New Mexico in June 1960. The report provides a comprehensive overview of covered employment and wage activity throughout New Mexico during the fourth quarter of 1959. It includes statewide and county-level employment, payroll, establishment, and average weekly earnings data for workers covered under state unemployment insurance programs, organized by major industry sectors including agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, transportation, trade, finance, real estate, and services. The report highlights the relationship between newly released 1960 Census population figures and covered employment trends, noting significant shifts in New Mexico's industrial structure, continued growth in mining and energy-producing regions, and evidence of increasing labor force participation in rapidly developing counties. The publication serves as an important historical source for understanding labor market conditions, industrial development, and regional economic change in New Mexico at the close of the 1950s.
