Abstract
Camphor and camphene are two of a group of substances known as plastic solids. The plastic solids are all characterized by the ease with which they can be deformed. It has been suggested that this property is a result of a great number of mobile vacancies in the crystal lattice. Nabarro and Herring explain the "creep", characteristic of metals, in this way.
