Abstract

This piece was inspired by the nationally-renowned fiesta dancing tradition of the Hondo Valley, a string of tiny villages between Ruidoso and Roswell, New Mexico. The dances, which blend the cultures of Spain, Mexico and Native America, are performed with courtly grace each spring by the young people of the valley.
