Abstract

In 1992, in an effort to redress the inconsistency that has been characteristic of federal policy applied to California, Congress established a statewide Indian council. The needs of California Indians in regards to health care are one part of the council's mandate. This is part in a series of reports by the council. This report discusses various aspects of tribal identity and culture, including issues that impact child welfare.
