Abstract
Critical mass is influenced mainly by the density, concentration, and shape of the fissionable material, the degree of neutron moderation, and the type and thickness of reflector material. Most of these parameters have been explored in detail at the Pajarito Remote-Control Laboratory (1) and the present series of measurements has the purpose of investigating reflector materials in the middle of the periodic table for the more subtle influence of their resonance scattering structure.
